Year 2000 Sõmiya Award Ceremony at the IUMRS-ICEM-2000 Conference in Strasbourg, France

The Year 2000 IUMRS Somiya Award recipients were Dr. X.R. Wu of the Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials, China, and Dr. J.C. Newman, Jr. of the NASA Langley Research Center, Mechanics and Durability Branch, USA. Their collaboration involved research on " Small-Crack Effects and Life Predictions for High-Strength Aluminium Alloys."
